As Canada's premier traffic safety advocate representing 4.9 million members in Canada, CAA has an important role in reducing climate change. We have been around as long as the automobile, and hope to be representing motorists for years to come. But that future requires a balanced approach to transportation.
|
Our balanced approach encourages preserving our environment while also maintaining personal mobility. We believe in creating policies and solutions that are practical, economically feasible, and whose costs are equal to or less than the environmental benefits they offer.
Both our mobility choices and the roads on which we travel affect our environment. A holistic approach to reducing pollution and greenhouse gases that engages individuals, automakers and governments is necessary if we are really going to slow the effects of climate change. It is the only real solution.
We must begin to introduce eco-friendly initiatives while we still have an environment to protect. A key element in any initiative is behaviour. By challenging and changing our personal behaviours as well as those of industry and governments, we can make a difference.
