Starting August 20, CAANEO, in partnership with CAA South Central Ontario, CAA Niagara, CAA Insurance, and the Ontario Road Builders’ Association will be soliciting your nominations for the worst roads in your community.
Since its inception in 2003, Ontario municipalities have taken or are taking action to fix 86 % of the worst roads named to the campaign’s annual top 20 list. The campaign has helped push local governments to fix roads in places like Timmins, Thunder Bay, Ottawa, Moosonee, Kapuskasing and in many other towns and cities across the province.
Any of us who have ever hit a pothole or driven bad roads know the toll they can take on our vehicles. The damage bad roads do to our brakes, suspensions, steering systems and tires costs us a lot of money to fix and it also puts our safety at risk. Not only that, but things like knocked out wheel alignments can decrease your vehicle’s fuel efficiency, which negatively impacts our environment.
We invite you to log onto www.worstroads.ca to cast your ballot for the worst road in your community. This is your opportunity to send a message to the provincial party leaders telling them that you want your gas tax money spent fixing your local roads.
Once the final results are tabulated, CAANEO will continue to advocate, on your behalf, the importance of having the federal government allocate all gas tax money collected into improving and expanding municipal infrastructure.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please free to contact CAANEO’s Manager of Public and Government affairs, Korey Kennedy at kkennedy@caaneo.on.ca.
Together we will achieve safer, more efficient roads.
