CAA NORTH & EAST ONTARIO RESPONDS TO ZOOM AIRLINES ANNOUNCEMENT

August 29th, 2008

Ottawa, August 29, 2008- CAA North & East Ontario (CAANEO) is committed to ensuring peace of mind for all travelers who rely on their services. In the wake of the announcement by Ottawa-based Zoom Airlines that it has halted all flights and grounded its planes, hundreds of passengers have been stranded and thousands of would-be vacationers are left looking for alternate plans.

CAANEO operates a travel agency that is registered with The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) and pays into a compensation fund to protect its travelers. More information about TICO can be found at www.tico.ca.

Thanks to the efforts of CAANEO’s Travel Professionals, CAANEO Members who booked flights through the autoclub’s Travel Agency Services and were affected by the shutdown have been contacted and offered assistance both in seeking compensation and booking alternate flights. The proactive approach adopted by our Travel Centres in response to this unfortunate announcement represents the excellent customer service that has defined CAA North & East Ontario for over 100 years.

“This incident serves as yet another example of how CAA North & East Ontario’s Travel Professionals are dedicated to not only meeting, but exceeding Member’s needs and expectations,” said Jeffrey Woznow, Director of Travel Services Operations for CAANEO. “When you travel with CAA, you truly are travelling with someone you trust.”

CAANEO would like to extend a special invitation to those travelers who booked directly with Zoom to speak with one of our Travel Professionals for advice and for help booking alternate arrangements. For more information find us at www.caaneo.ca/locations .

For over 100 years, the Canadian Automobile Association has provided Travel, Emergency Road Services, Insurance, and Advocacy for its Members.
