If you run into a problem that can't be fixed on the spot, CAA will transport you and your bicycle to wherever* you need to go. Best of all, Bike Assist is a new Free Benefit for all active Members.
Each service call counts as one Road Assist call. You're allotted a certain number of calls and a towing distance based on your level of membership. For each request for Bike Assist service, CAA Classic Members will be towed up to 10 km, CAA Plus up to 200 km and CAA Premier up to 320 km for one tow per membership- free of charge. Our Green Initiatives & Bicycle Safety Endeavours
Recognizing that the number of cyclists on local roadways has increased dramatically in recent years, CAA North & East Ontario has made a concerted effort to take into account and acknowledge the needs of our Members who frequently cycle by expanding upon our various green initiatives and bicycle safety endeavours. Most notably, CAA has been involved with conducting the "Watch for Bikes" campaigns; hosting the national symposium "Changing Lanes: Improving the Bike-Car Relationship on Canada's Roads" and issuing several media releases annually concerning how motorists and cyclists can safely co-exist on roadways. Further, to help ensure the safety of all road users, CAA North & East Ontario is in the midst of brokering new partnerships with like-minded organizations that are equally concerned about the environment and the bike-car relationship on local roadways.

CAA Bike Assist FAQs
1: Why is CAA North & East Ontario offering Bike Assist?
Ontarians are making a shift towards greener lifestyles and making more decisions on products and services based on social responsibility. An increasing amount of commuters are opting to use their bicycle as their main mode of transportation.
2: When will Bike Assist start?
Bike Assist is available as of April 1, 2012, after which this service will be available 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
3: Will drivers try to fix the bicycles?
No, when responding to a call for Bike Assist, the driver will tow the bicycle and transport the cyclist. At this time, drivers will not make any repairs to bicycles, including mending a flat tire.
4: Where is service provided?
Bike Assist is available anywhere the Club provides roadside assistance. Service will not be provided to inaccessible areas, such as parks, trails, private and unmaintained roads.
5: What will be the service times for Bike Assist?
As with any vehicle, calls for Bike Assist will be within the standard service times. Longer wait times may be experienced if specialized equipment to service the call is required (ie: tandem bicycles or adult tricycles).
6: Will Bike Assist count as a regular call on my membership?
Yes, each call for Bike Assist will count as one of the provided tows for that respective membership.
7: Is there a kilometre limit on tows provided for Bike Assist?
Yes; service will be provided based on the level of membership. Classic Members will receive up to 10 kilometres of towing; Plus Members will receive up to 200 kilometres per tow; and Premier Members are eligible for 320 kilometres for one tow per membership year and 200 kilometres for any tows after that.
8: Will drivers be able to unlock bicycles or cut securing devices?
No, as the ownership of the bicycle cannot be verified.
9: Will you service tricycles made for adults?
Yes, however they may require specialized equipment that could result in longer wait times.
10: Will you service a "wee-ride child bike seat trailer?"
At this time service cannot be guaranteed for child bicycle trailers. Our fleet, brokers and contractors are not equipped with child seats, therefore alternative transportation would need to be arranged at the Member's expense.
11: Are motorized bicycles covered?
Yes, providing the bicycle still makes use of standard pedals and chain, but with a mounted external electric motor. Motorcycles, electric scooters and mopeds are covered under Plus and Premier memberships only, as they must be serviced by a flatbed truck.
12: Is there an age limit for who can receive Bike Assist service?
Only Members and their Associates are permitted to be towed.
13: Will you service bicycles for underage children?
Bicycles for underage children will only be serviced if the parent/guardian is with the child. However, as our fleet and contractors are not equipped with child seats, alternative transportation would need to be arranged for children, which would be at the Member's expense.
14: Can I apply for a refund if my bicycle is towed by someone else after placing a call for Bike Assist service?
Refunds will only be applied if CAA is contacted first and any refund will be based on CAA prevailing rates.
15: Will CAANEO reimburse me if I am outside of their territory and pay for bicycle assistance from a bike shop or other service?
Yes, service and reimbursement will be provided within the province of Ontario.
