Fashion Staples

When it comes to finding fabulous fall fashion items, RW&CO’s Guillaume Duplouys says to let warm colours be your guide. “Fall allows us to incorporate rich and warm palettes like burgundy, camel, kaki, and grey; as well as whimsical checks and prints,” says Duplouys, marketing content specialist. “In autumn, we like to layer pieces to create rich and sophisticated outfits.” Think lightweight turtlenecks, knitted sweaters, cardigans and blazers.

For this fall, Duplouys says that the versatile sweater-dress has made a fashionable comeback, as has the “flowy pant;” a “hugely popular” trend last summer that is now available at RW&CO in different colours and fabrics. Shoppers will also be able to find it at RW&CO in different silhouettes; including straight leg, wide leg, flare, and more.

Duplouys says that every woman’s closet could do with an “essential blazer,” something to pair with feminine dresses or skirts for the office, or with a pair of skinny jeans for a night out.

Fall Menswear

The essential blazer is not just for women, though. Every man’s closet should have at least one that can dress up a pair of dark jeans or chinos. “Get a blazer in deep green for fall and you’ll be able to pair it with our versatile City Pant for a not-too-fancy but not-casual-Friday look at work,” Duplouys says. Last but not least, men should invest in a few different V- or crew-neck shirts as well as RW&CO’s “star coat” of the season, the Mac Coat (an upscale raincoat).

Whether we’re inclined to fashion trends or not, RW&CO has taken the hard work out of what to wear for the fall by creating pieces that ultimately work together. “All the pieces of our collections are made to be mixed and matched together, so people can create as many outfits as they like,” says Duplouys.

Pro Tips

When shopping for fall, the best item to invest in is something that will last longer than a season. “A coat is an investment piece because you can wear it for longer than a few months,” says Duplouys. “So is a blazer and a well-fitted pant.” Add some trendier items into your wardrobe and before you know it you’ll be on trend with the season as well as have pieces that will work for you throughout the year.

And if you’re mixing and matching, remember that less is more. “Don’t try too hard,” says Duplouys. The magic number to layer like a pro is three, which preserves comfort by preventing over-layering. As a rule of thumb Duplouys says, “When in doubt, play it simple by mixing the shades of the same colours and adding one or two prints.”
