You can extend the benefits of Membership to other drivers in your family with Associate Memberships; responsibility for the Associate Membership will fall under the Primary Membership. Eligible family members include your spouse/common-law, and your children between the ages of 16 and 25, who reside at the same address as the Primary Member. Consumer Services
|
CAA offers a number of unique services to meet the specific needs of motorists and travellers. Services like Bail Bond Assistance and Emergency Trip Guarantee are intended to protect motorists or travellers from unexpected difficulties associated with travelling by car. Witness rewards are offered to discourage crimes that victimize motorists like car theft and hit and run incidents. Paralegal services are available to assist Members charged with offences under the Highway Traffic Act. Find out the added benefits your CAA membership provides. |
Auto Theft Reward
CAA North & East Ontario offers a $500 cash reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone stealing a Member's car. Police and immediate family are excluded. Your application for the Car Theft Witness Reward must be made to CAA North & East Ontario's Legal and Consumer Services Department.
Trip Accident Assistance
If youre in a collision more than 200 kilometers from your home and your vehicle still cannot be driven safely up to 72 hours after the collision is reported, CAA will reimburse you up to $300 (up to $500 for CAA Plus Members) to be used for ONE of the following:
- Local lodging and meals: or
- commercial rental car: or
- commercial transportation via airline, train, or bus to your original destination or back home
To be eligible for a reimbursement, submit a copy of the police accident report and the original receipts for your expenditures to your local CAA Travel Store within 60 days of the accident.
Legal Defense Benefits
If you are charged with a traffic offense under the Highway Traffic Act anywhere in the world, and legal defense is recommended, CAA will reimburse you for eligible expenses according to the CAA Schedule of Legal Fees. Be sure to contact your CAA Travel Store to verify coverage for paralegal services.
Note: Not applicable for parking offenses, all cases involving intoxicating beverages and drugs or violations under the criminal code. Reimbursements will not be issued to members of the Bar. Your CAA membership must be valid at the time of the offense
U.S. Bail Bond
When traveling in the U.S., you should carry your Arrest/Bail Bond Card and CAA Membership Card with you because even a minor traffic violation or collision may result in an arrest. As a CAA Member, your cards cover you for a guaranteed $5,000. This will usually prevent your detainment or having to pay a cash fine. If detained, phone the nearest AAA office and an agent will arrange to secure your prompt release.
Hit and Run Witness Reward
CAA will pay a $500 reward to any Member providing information that leads to the arrest and conviction of a hit and run driver whose vehicle is responsible for a reported personal injury collision. Police and your immediate family are excluded. To claim the reward, the reporting Member must submit details to CAA North & East Ontario within 30 days of the conviction of the hit and run driver. CAA North & East Ontario will issue a cheque to the Member for $500 upon verification of the claim.
