Sail Europe's 7 rivers with this new luxury river cruise

AmaWaterways is expanding its luxury cruise itineraries. Setting sail for the first time in 2023 is the Seven River Journeys. The new river cruise will voyage through the seven main rivers in Europe, with stops in 14 countries. The itinerary for the Seven River Journeys spans 46 days, allowing you to see more of Europe aboard a luxury cruise ship.

This epic adventure is making history as the longest river cruise journey. You'll be able to explore these seven major rivers and so much more:

The Rhone River

The Rhone River

Admire the south of France as you sail the Rhone River. You will travel from Avignon to Lyon, France's gourmet hot spot.

Along the way to Lyon, you will get the chance to discover the world of artists such as Van Gogh in Tarascon. Or admire the French countryside aboard a steam train in Tournon. Plus, enjoy French pastries and cheeses as you explore the Rhone.

Lyon is home to 20 Michelin-starred restaurants, making it a must-eat destination for foodies. You can also enjoy walking tours through the old town and the city's unique covered walkways.

The Scheldt River

The Scheldt and Maas Rivers

Experience the Netherlands and Belgium along the Scheldt and Maas Rivers. You'll get to discover the Medieval history of Ghent and Burges on the Scheldt. Enjoy Ghent's canal-side architecture and the preserved Medieval world of Burges.

One of the stops along the Maas River is Rotterdam, the "Gateway to Europe." Embark on a walking tour and indulge in local specialties as you experience the Netherlands firsthand. Or visit the home of Johannes Vermeer in nearby Delft. No matter your interests, Rotterdam has a cultural experience for everyone.

The Rhine RIver

The Rhine, Main, and Moselle Rivers

Take in views fit for royalty along the Rhine, Main and Moselle Rivers that bring you to the heart of European history from towering castles, sprawling wineries, and historic villages. On this leg of the Seven River Journey, you will sail from Amsterdam through the German countryside to Wurzburg, Germany.

The Rhine will provide views straight out of a fairy-tale as you glide past over 40 castles. Then, after an exclusive visit to Germany's Lahneck castle, you will sail towards Amsterdam before reaching the Moselle and the Main Rivers.

Did you know the Moselle River is a best-kept secret amongst river cruises? Lined with vineyards, you'll hike through the grapes and sip wines along the shore. You can also enjoy a gondola ride soaring high over the vineyards. Between the views and the flavours, your journey will be unforgettable.

The winding currents of the Main River will take you past storybook-like villages steeped in history before reaching Mainz, Germany.

The Danube River

The Danube River

The last river of this journey will take you through four of Europe's magnificent capitals—Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, and Belgarde.

There is so much to see on the Danube with AmaWaterways. First, you'll get to visit the Bavarian town of Passau. There you'll go on a walking tour and visit the gothic St. Stephen's Cathedral, home to the world's second-largest church pipe organ. You also stop in Vienna, where you can discover imperial history by visiting the Palace of Schonbrunn, the summer residence of the Habsburg Emperors.
