Step into spring at the Canadian Tulip Festival

Nothing signals spring in Ottawa quite like the tulip beds at Commissioners Park, where 300,000 tulips line up the pathways along Dow's Lake. The Canadian Tulip Festival returns this year with an emphasis on history, colour, and the role tulips have played in shaping the city's springtime landscape.
New this year, the Tulip Trail is a 40‑minute guided walk that brings 4,000 years of tulip history to life. Created in partnership with 270 West Consulting, it follows the flower’s journey from the Central Asian Mountains to its arrival in Ottawa. The trail is one of the festival’s most notable additions this season, offering added insight into the history behind the capital’s iconic spring flower.
What began as a gesture of thanks from the Netherlands after the Second World War has grown into one of Ottawa’s defining spring traditions. And 74 years later, that history is still part of the tulips people come to see.

Their new TulipFest has nearly 500,000 tulips spilled across the Apple Orchard area, turning familiar paths into open fields made for slow walks and plenty of stopping along the way.
Their Tulipfest satellite Farm Shop offers a selection of tulip-themed items, including fresh-cut bouquets and spring décor. It's a nice extra stop if you're already there and want to buy some flowers or their tulip-themed plush.
From the wide tulip fields to the oversized Dutch windmill standing tall above the flowers, it's the kind of place where your camera roll fills up quickly. The farm is also dog‑friendly, so leashed pups are welcome to join in on the strolls, sniffs, and photo opportunities.
