Why you should get Visitor to Canada Travel Insurance
1 Minute Read
Imagine travelling to Canada for the first time, whether for school, a wedding, or a vacation. You have many exciting plans, from trying your first poutine to exploring Niagara Falls.
The last thing you want is an unexpected medical emergency to ruin your trip. That’s why Visitor to Canada Travel Insurance is essential. It helps cover unexpected medical expenses, ensuring you don’t face hefty bills for emergencies like accidents or illnesses.
Who is eligible?
You are eligible for Visitor to Canada Travel Insurance if you are immigrating to Canada, have a student or work visa, are just visiting on vacation or are a Canadian not covered by a government health insurance plan. However, you must be under 85 years old and under to be eligible for this coverage.
What does it cover?
Travel insurance for visitors to Canada helps cover the cost of emergency medical care, emergency home return, emergency dental treatment and other medical expenses.
In Canada, an unexpected hospital visit can lead to significant expenses. For example, an X-ray might cost around $360, and the expenses for a heart attack could reach up to $26,000. To help prevent these costs, you should have travel insurance before you come to Canada.
How does it work?
You should purchase your insurance seven days before your arrival in Canada to ensure that you are fully covered for the entirety of your trip.
When selecting your plan, ensure you get the right coverage for you. You can choose a coverage limit of $25,000, $50,000, or $100,000. For those up to the age of 65, you can also have a coverage limit of $150,000.
You will be insured for 365 days or until you return to your home country.
