Roadside assistance: CAA Membership versus CAA Business Membership
2 Minute Read
If you’re interested in a CAA Membership, you may be wondering which plan is the right fit for you. With several options and a multitude of benefits, it can be confusing to choose from.
Let’s take a closer look at the CAA Membership versus the CAA Business Membership – particularly when it comes to roadside assistance for personal and commercial vehicles – to help you select which plan best suits your needs.
What defines a business vehicle for commercial roadside assistance?
A personal vehicle can be considered a business or commercial vehicle if it meets one or more of the following criteria:
-
It displays any form of company branding on the vehicle.
-
It is used for work-related tasks.
-
It is insured under a business policy.
If your vehicle meets one or more of the above criteria, a CAA Business Membership is your best choice. While pick-up trucks, taxis and cargo vans are commonly associated with commercial use, the make or model does not determine classification. Any vehicle – including a Honda Civic, for example – can qualify if it is used for business purposes.
Choosing a CAA Membership
Starting at just $30 per year, a CAA Membership is ideal for individuals. Offering four different tiers – Everyday, Classic, Plus and Premier – you can choose which level best suits you and your lifestyle.
The CAA Membership lets you get more out of life with exclusive discounts on insurance, automotive services, travel, sports tickets, museums, and more. The CAA Classic, Plus and Premier tiers also offer 24/7 roadside assistance for your personal vehicles. The number of service calls and the towing distance differ across Membership tiers. While the CAA Everyday tier doesn’t include vehicle roadside assistance, it does include a rather unique feature: Everyday Members get a free roadside call when their bicycle breaks down.
It’s important to note that a regular CAA Membership (including the Classic, Plus, and Premier tiers) does not include roadside assistance or towing for company or fleet vehicles, whether they are branded or not. The CAA Membership provides roadside assistance for personal vehicles only.
Choosing a CAA Business Membership
For just $99 per year, the CAA Business Membership gives you access to a range of enterprise solutions. CAA Business Members can choose from a menu of services, including commercial roadside, Commercial Pit Crew, group benefits, employee Membership and business insurance.
Since a CAA Business Membership is designed to “put CAA to work for you and your business,” this Membership category only offers 24/7 emergency roadside support for commercial or company vehicles. Commercial roadside support starts at $199 per vehicle (volume discounts are available), including three roadside calls per vehicle annually. There is also an option to pool calls across all vehicles. Commercial roadside also includes 100 km towing. Every vehicle receives a complimentary CAA Everyday Business Membership, which unlocks 3c/L fuel savings at participating Shell stations.
