When the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa opened its doors in July 2025, the staff wanted to bring a unique and compelling experience to the National Capital Region.
“The vision was to build a destination, not a hotel, but a destination with offerings that are appealing for international travellers and local guests,” explains Rami Zok, vice-president of hotel operations. “We wanted to blend world-class hospitality with the Hard Rock energy brand.”
Zok knows a thing or two about the art of hospitality. Before coming to Canada, he lived in 11 cities across three continents. After launching the hotel at the Great Canadian Casino Resort in Toronto, he brought his breadth of leadership experience in the luxury hospitality industry to Ottawa.
“I went across multiple cultures; those cities helped me a lot to learn a lot of languages,” reflects Zok of his professional journey. “With Hard Rock, I wanted to create something that feels both globally relevant and locally rooted.”
The Hard Rock Hotel offers 150 contemporary rooms, including 22 luxury suites. Comfort is a top priority; every room boasts Sleep Like a Rock® mattresses and bedding, designed by Simmons Beautyrest. The iconic electric guitar, synonymous with the Hard Rock brand, is subtly integrated into the room's details, such as the guitar emblems embroidered on the pillowcases.
“The rooms are both stylish and functional,” says Zok. “After an energetic or hectic day, when you come here, you’re going to say, ‘Wow, I feel really comfortable.’”
Infused with music

What sets the in-room experience apart from a traditional hotel is a three-pronged program called Sound of Your Stay®, which is complimentary for all guests.
“It's a distinctive offering and a true reflection of hard rock identity,” says Zok of the program. “Everything that we do is infused with music.”
Upon check-in, Tracks® offers guests a QR code to scan and build a personalized, in-room playlist of their favourite music. “During your stay, these songs keep on coming,” explains Zok.
Wax® is an offering that allows guests to choose from a curated menu of vinyl records at reception. A staff member then delivers their selections – along with a turntable and over-ear acoustic headphones to the room for guests to enjoy.
For aspiring or experienced guitarists, Picks® provides a guitar delivery service. Hotel guests can select from a guitar menu, then the guitar, headphones and an amplifier are delivered directly to the room. For novice players, lesson content can be accessed through the TV.
“They can really turn the stay into a personal jam session, and then bring something home,” says Zok.
Of course, the entertainment options extend far beyond the rooms. Connected to the hotel, the casino features 1,500 slot machines and up to 40 live-action game tables, along with a dedicated Baccarat room.
“The casino really offers a dynamic and engaging gaming environment; you see the vibe everywhere,” says Zok. “It’s designed for all levels of gaming, from newcomers to seasoned players.”
Beyond gaming, music continues to take centre stage at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa. Hard Rock LIVE is a 23,000-square-foot concert hall, designed for live events and high-energy concerts such as Avril Lavigne, Yungblud, Loverboy and Nazareth. On Fridays and Saturdays, live music performances are featured at both the Hard Rock Café Centre Bar and the Council Oak Lounge.
Dining options abound

Another defining feature of the Hard Rock Hotel is the wide array of dining options. The property offers seven different restaurants, ranging from fine dining to grab-and-go options.
“Council Oak Steaks & Seafood is our top restaurant,” says Zok, adding that the kitchen sources Canadian ingredients almost exclusively. “They're offering premium cuts, fresh seafood and really an upscale ambience.”
On Sundays, Council Oak offers a decadent brunch featuring a fresh seafood raw bar, along with a 28-day dry-aged butcher’s cut carving station.

Known and beloved around the world, the Hard Rock Café serves up classic, American-style fare in a vibrant, music-driven atmosphere. Quick-service options are also plentiful, starting with the Brick’d Italian Kitchen, offering homemade cuisine that favours a family-style, sharing experience. The YOUYU Noodle Bar specializes in noodle dishes that bring bold, pan-Asian flavours, while the Shawarma Shop delivers authentic, Mediterranean-inspired options. For those looking for an early morning or late-night energy boost, Constant Grind offers premium coffee and grab-and-go options around the clock –– including pastries and house-made gelato.
CAA four-diamond rating
With such a wide array of amenities, it’s not hard to see why the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Ottawa recently received a four-diamond rating from CAA and AAA. This all-in-one destination leverages the best in accommodations, food and entertainment, with a team dedicated to providing elevated customer service.
“It's a tremendous honour for the entire team,” says Zok of the four-diamond appointment. “They come together to create a seamless, memorable experience,” says Zok. “Even if you’re from Ottawa and here for a staycation, you're disconnected from your routine, we want you to have the sense you've travelled somewhere and brought all these experiences together.”
