Summary

  • Sonja Kovacevic saved nearly $700 with her CAA Membership on PODS moving services.
  • Additional benefits included roadside assistance, at-home tire changes, and fuel savings.
  • CAA travel insurance ensured financial protection and simple claims for trips outside Canada.

When CAA Member and former Ottawa resident Sonja Kovacevic was preparing to move to Toronto, there were plenty of logistics to navigate between the two cities.

“It’s a long move, and it was a full house,” recalls Kovacevic.

After assessing her options, Kovacevic chose Portable On Demand Storage (PODS), a moving and storage company that provided her with weather-resistant containers for her home. After packing at her own pace, PODS handled Kovacevic’s transportation and storage.

The best part for Kovacevic, a CAA Member since 2023, was the incredible savings she realized with her Membership.

“It was great that I was able to get the CAA discount,” she enthuses. “It was several thousand dollars for the PODS, but CAA saved us almost $700.”

Reliability on the road

Like many CAA Members, Kovacevic says she was first drawn to the idea of Membership because of CAA’s renowned Emergency Roadside Assistance.

“I just wanted the assurance that if something were to happen to my car, I had the ability to call someone,” shares Kovacevic. Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, CAA Emergency Roadside Assistance gives members peace of mind that help is available when they need it most.

After becoming a member, Kovacevic also gained access to CAA Pit Crew, which offers quick and convenient at-home automotive services.  She says the service has proven helpful on multiple occasions over the years, all while saving her money.

“One time at home, I couldn’t start my car; it was my battery,” says Kovacevic. “The second time, I couldn't start my car because I had a flat tire –– so the crew came to my home and patched my tire so that I could drive to get a replacement.”

She adds that the CAA Pit Crew is particularly helpful in fall and spring, when it’s time to switch over her tires for the season.

“One year I had my winter tires removed by CAA, and then I had my summer tires put on by CAA at my home, too.”

Recently, in response to the rising costs of fuel, Kovacevic has started taking advantage of her CAA Member benefits at the pump.

“I've just started using that benefit when I go to Shell,” she explains. “I'm very intentional about both going to Shell and using my card.”

Travelling with peace of mind

Like many CAA Members, Kovacevic enjoys taking a break from winter weather by heading to southern destinations. In early 2026, she escaped the ice and snow with a trip to Florida.

Since she already had her home and car insurance policies set up with CAA, Kovacevic opted for CAA travel insurance as well.

“CAA makes it so easy in terms of getting a claim online, so it wasn't even a question,” she emphasizes. “I don't need to talk to anyone, and everything is saved in my profile; it's just really seamless.”

Kovacevic says she prioritized travel insurance to ensure peace of mind while outside Canada.

“As a Canadian, if something were to happen in the U.S., it could cost several tens or hundreds of thousands if you were to end up in the hospital,” she says. “It really was a no-brainer for me to go through CAA for that.”
