Copenhagen's iconic amusement park lights up like an enchanting fairy-tale village during this annual festival. The park's historic 19th-century buildings and lush gardens are adorned with thousands of dazzling decorations while brightly coloured carousels and a Ferris wheel provide plenty of fairground fun. Among the glittering fir trees and laser light shows, snow-covered market stalls offer Danish bleskiver doughnuts and one-of-a-kind gifts and crafts by local artisans.

The Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt is one of the longest running holiday markets in the world, with origins dating back to the mid-16th century. The city's Old Town square transforms into a winter wonderland with 180 stalls selling traditional wooden Erzgebirge ornaments and hand-painted nutcrackers. 

Visitors can get into the holiday spirit while sipping warm mugs of glhwein and sampling grilled bratwurst paired with sweet Lebkuchen, a German-style gingerbread.

Crowds pack the cobblestoned streets of Toronto's historic Distillery District to visit its annual holiday market. Charming storefronts, galleries and restaurants are aglow with strands of whimsical fairy lights, and merrymakers pose in front of a soaring 55-foot Christmas tree. 

Traditional wood cabins in this pedestrian-only neighbourhood serve international cuisine ranging from poutine to raclette, while strolling carollers sing classic holiday tunes.
