Adrenaline-boosting outdoor adventures don’t need to stop, as the sunny days of summer are traded for crisp autumn nights. Thrill seekers and nature lovers can rejoice that there are many unique opportunities to zipline around Ottawa, and it’s an amazing way to admire the fall colours.  

With locations that will have you soaring over tree-covered mountains, there are eight aerial parks near Ottawa with ziplines. Check out these beautiful zip tours and treetop obstacle courses that feature vibrant fall colours from September and October.

Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature as you soar above a landscape of trees and a turquoise lake. Cross the forest canopy from platform to platform on the Ziptour. You’ll walk uphill to reach the starting point, and there are a few easy bridges to cross along the way. Otherwise, you’ll enjoy soaring through the sky. The final zipline brings you right back to the parking lot.  

Mix in some climbing, balancing, and swinging for your exhilarating activity. Book the Zipline and Aerial Game Trek to mix in some climbing, balancing, and swinging. Play through this treetop obstacle course, which includes a zipline section and other challenges. You can start at the beginner level, working up new obstacles if you wish.

Treetop Trekking

This scenic aerial park allows visitors to explore the breathtaking waterfront destination of the 1000 Islands from above. Similar to the Arbraska Park in Quebec, visitors can choose a full flying adventure on the Ziptour or a mix of treetop obstacles on the Zipline and Aerial Game Trek. 

The 1000 Islands Ziptour will have you floating through a forest canopy along the edge of Jones Creek. It comprises five zip lines, some reaching up to over 300 metres, along with ladders and bridges you’ll climb over to keep soaring. Add it to the Zipline and Aerial Game Trek package, which is more physical and will have you leaping off wooden platforms, crossing over trees and ziplining over lakes.

Chutes de Coulonge

Enjoy the view of rushing waterfalls as you zipline over a rocky tree-lined gorge. Two giant canyon ziplines go directly over the picturesque canyon gorge, the first 304 metres long and 19 metres high and the second 121 metres long and 38 metres tall. 

An obstacle course also features eight unique challenges, like climbing and balancing, plus four ziplines. The Duo package combines these adventure park activities, and you can make the round trip twice.  

You can visit during their Lumberjack event from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on October 12, when you will find various vendors and live music. Celebrate the last weekend of aerial adventures for the year.

You don’t need to head out of the city centre to experience a thrilling zipline ride with beautiful views. Cruise over the Ottawa River with Interzip, the world’s first interprovincial zipline, and catch some early fall colours. You can reach up to 40 KM/hour speeds, starting your activity on a tower 36 metres above water.  Admire the rushing Chaudière Falls, Parliament Hill, and greenery along the river’s edge, among other stunning landmarks and natural attractions.

Camp Fortune

Fly over a sea of autumn colours on one of the fastest and longest ziplines in the region. Camp Fortune has peak-to-peak ziplines that feature a stunning forest scene of orange and yellow at the end of the season. The Zip Tour includes three lines and a drop tower on which you can reach speeds up to 80 KM/hour.  

A chairlift takes you up over the valley to begin your adventurous descent, spanning 1364 metres with a buddy. This full course takes about 1.5 hours, and reservations are required. The park also has an aerial park where you can climb through treetops, balance on ropes and experience additional zip lines.

Great Canadian Bungee

Great Canadian Bungee offers a 320-metre zipline that flies over a sparkling blue lagoon and surrounding forest if you’re seeking thrills. It starts at 60 metres high and reaches speeds approaching 100 KM/hour, perfect for a rush of adrenaline. This venue is located near Gatineau Park and is open all through October so that you can catch the colours of fall rhapsody in all their glory.  

The excitement doesn’t stop there, as you will also find North America’s tallest bungee jump here over Morrison’s Quarry. At 60 metres tall, the rebound is even higher than any other jump on the continent. Dive toward the crystal blue waters held within the limestone amphitheatre.

One of the longest ziplines in Quebec is a five-line course, two of which are over one kilometre long. You’ll zip down from Mount Tremblant’s summit, enjoying a panoramic view of vibrant trees and the quaint, colourful village. It offers side-by-side soaring to experience the ride with your best buddy.  

You’ll experience the mountain in a whole new way, catching the first colours of the fall when they start to change. Plus, you’ll have extra time soaking in the views on the gondola ride up the mountain. To taste this epic adventure, you can book the Express Tour, which features one zipline out of the five.

Last date of the season: October 27, 2024 (2/4 zip lines run year-round) 

Buckle up for some thrill-seeking adventures at Tyroparc, including its Mega Zipline – the highest in Quebec. The activity begins with an 850-metre hike up through the woods, where you’ll fly down the first of four ziplines, making your way to the other side of the mountain. The longest line is the third one, at 900 metres. The express package version features two of these four zip lines, and this half is open year-round. Continue your treetop exploration by adding the aerial obstacle course to your zipline booking. You can also add the Via Ferrata cliff edge hiking to your day of adventures, choosing your difficulty level and admiring even more epic views, especially in the fall.
