Top 7 CAA Membership Questions About Coverage in Canada & U.S.

Are you planning a road trip across Canada or to the U.S.? If so, you might be wondering if your CAA Membership will cover you. We're here to answer your top questions about CAA Membership while travelling in North America:

1. Does my CAA membership cover me Canada-wide and in the U.S.?

Yes, your CAA Membership provides Roadside Assistance coverage all over Canada and the United States! In fact, it is accepted in 32 other countries as well. The services provided are based on your Membership level.

2. Who should I call if I need help while travelling?

Should you require service outside of CAA North & East Ontario Club Territory, please call 1-800-CAA-HELP (1-800-222-4357) or visit the CAA Mobile App from your device to request service and receive live updates on your driver’s location.

3. Can I get roadside assistance if I ride my motorcycle?

Motorcycles with or without a sidecar are covered under CAA Plus and Premier Membership levels. However, due to differences in service terms in the U.S., CAA Members should expect to pay for service provided to motorcycles while travelling in the U.S. and can submit original receipts to their Club for reimbursement.

Any motorcycle service will count as one of the allotted roadside assistance calls during a Membership year.

4. Where can I get Bike Assist?

You can get roadside assistance for your bicycle, 365 days a year Canada-wide. Bike Assist is only available within Canada and will count as one of your roadside assistance calls under your Membership plan.

5. Can I get free CAA maps while travelling?

Yes, bring your Membership card to any CAA store to pick up free maps. While in-store, you can also pay Member prices for any merchandise you might need, like a roadside safety kit.

6. Can I get reimbursed if I need to get towed outside of the CAA North & East Ontario Club Territory?

Reimbursement will vary depending on the circumstances. In instances where the CAA contractor’s access is legally restricted (e.g. toll road, limited-access highway), full reimbursement will be provided for towing back to the service facility or nearest exit.

When travelling to the U.S., you can apply for full reimbursement, up to the towing entitlements under your Membership level, if a recorded call for service to AAA is placed.

RV road service coverage in the U.S. may be capped at $500.00 USD per incident. Beyond the $500 cap, you will be required to cover any extra charges.

7. Am I able to enjoy another club's discounts while travelling?

CAA Clubs come together to serve you with a long list of benefits perfect for your next vacation. We all know travelling can be expensive, but you can visit another club's website to get fantastic money-saving discounts.

If you can't find the exclusive deals online or need assistance, dial the club's direct customer service line, and they will be happy to help with whatever you need.

Or, if your trip doesn't go according to plan, you can count on the local club for expert advice. They can assist you with reserving a hotel if you decide to extend your stay and help you find things to do. Plus, they can inform you about deals on nearby restaurants, hotels, shopping, entertainment, and attraction tickets.
