Summary
- CAA Business Membership gives small and medium-sized businesses 24/7 commercial roadside assistance, group benefits, employee memberships and business insurance.
- The program launched in September 2025 and serves Ottawa, Cornwall, Pembroke, North Bay, Sudbury, Thunder Bay and surrounding communities.
- Business owners in trades, engineering consulting and hospitality say it reduces downtime, supports growth and adds peace of mind.
With his daily schedule packed with waiting clients, small business owner Jonathan Gilman knows that keeping his crew moving is crucial to staying on track.
“On any given day, I have a half-dozen vehicles and a dozen guys who may be operating them,” explains Gilman, owner of Ottawa Interlock Repair.
A gap in small-business coverage led CAA NEO to build a dedicated program
To ensure his company fleet is operating smoothly, Gilman relies on his CAA Business Membership. Along with options for group benefits, employee memberships and business insurance, CAA Business also offers Commercial Roadside Assistance – something Gilman finds especially useful.
“It’s a no-brainer,” says Gilman of his CAA Business Membership. “I might have a dead battery, keys locked out of a vehicle, or a bad breakdown.
“With CAA, I know that I can just make one call and it’s taken care of.”
24/7 access to towing keeps Gilman's fleet costs predictable
With 24/7 towing up to 100 km, Gilman says his Membership also offers incredible value for his business.
“With trucks going back and forth across town, we aren’t always next door to our mechanic,” he says. “With the cost of a yearly membership being roughly the cost of one tow, I know my towing costs are mitigated.”
A first for Canada, the CAA Business Membership supports small to medium-sized businesses across Ottawa, Cornwall, Pembroke, North Bay, Sudbury and Thunder Bay, as well as rural and surrounding communities throughout north and east Ontario. Jeff Walker, president and CEO of CAA North & East Ontario, says the program was strategically designed to help business owners succeed.
“Small businesses are the workhorses of the Canadian economy, but they’re traditionally underserviced in areas like insurance, group benefits and roadside assistance,” explains Walker. “We did some research and began to see some major gaps where small businesses need to succeed and compete.
“From our perspective, it was an opportunity to fill a need.”
Since launching in September 2025, business owners across many sectors have echoed the countless advantages the program offers. For AZIWELL Canada – an engineering consultant for the mineral exploration and infrastructure industries – the Membership offers support as the company expands.
Frequent travel increases breakdown risk, so coverage becomes essential
“Aziwell Canada has experienced consistent growth over the years, and CAA North & East Ontario has been a great asset in our back pocket – not only for time restrictions and constant travel, but also as a safety measure,” says Dustin Hanson, Managing Director of AZIWELL Canada.
Reliable roadside support frees a family-owned restaurant to focus on service
At Feleena’s Mexican Cantina – a colourful, family-owned restaurant in the heart of Ottawa, owner Ann McGarry say the CAA Business Membership brings her a sense of assurance.
“Partnering with CAA Business has been a great decision for Feleena’s,” say the co-owners, adding there’s a peace of mind that comes with knowing roadside emergencies are covered. “The service has been professional, reliable, and easy to use, and it’s reassuring to know help is just a phone call away when we need it.
“We’re very happy to be CAA Business Members and appreciate the added value and confidence it brings to our day-to-day operations.”
