Travel responsibly with CAA

It makes sense that people who love to travel would also want to protect the local communities and areas we visit. That’s why responsible travel is so popular among CAA Members. But where do you begin? When picking a destination or itinerary, look for these three characteristics: sustainable business practices, a commitment to community development and environmental protection.

A CAA Travel Consultant can help you research the best itineraries and destinations focused on responsible travel so you can breathe easier knowing you’re making responsible choices while travelling. This may look different for every traveller, but what matters is we’re choosing to travel with care. To learn more, make an appointment with a CAA Travel Consultant online or call 1-800-705-1803.

CAA Travel partners with guided tours and cruise lines that practice responsible tourism and provide opportunities for travellers to give back while on vacation. Here’s just a few ways our partners are helping to change the world through travel:

  • Hurtigruten leads the way for responsible cruising, launching its first hybrid ship in 2023 and working towards its first emissions free ship by 2030.
  • African Travel offers MAKE TRAVEL MATTER® experiences when going on safari, like visiting an elephant sanctuary in Kenya (and for every couple who visits, African Travel will donate two bed-time blankets and 3 bottles of milk to the sanctuary).
  • G Adventures acts responsibly when designing itineraries, from considering animal and child welfare to protecting local cultures. Tours are built on meaningful relationships with local communities and directly benefit the places they go.
  • Seabourn Cruises partners with UNESCO to promote responsible travel at World Heritage sites around the world.
  • Holland America Line is the only Alaskan cruise to earn the Responsible Fisheries Management certification, a global benchmark for serving only fresh, certified sustainable wild Alaskan seafood onboard.
