CAA North & East Ontario AI Usage
Introduction
This policy outlines how CAA North & East Ontario uses artificial intelligence (AI) tools and platforms. It is designed to ensure transparency for our Members and staff, establish clear guidelines for responsible AI use, and provide peace of mind regarding the integrity of our content.
Guiding principles
Our approach to AI is grounded in ethics, transparency, and trust. We strive to use AI in ways that enhance our work and deliver value to our Members, while maintaining high standards of privacy and accountability.
Here is how we use AI:
Like technological advances before it, AI is a tool that we view as useful in our work. This includes helping us to understand our business environment, do market research, analyze data to see where we can improve and to anticipate future innovations. We use licensed closed systems to protect your privacy and our data.
Trust is central to our business. All technology, including AI, is used with an ethical mindset. Any use of generative AI is subject to human review and challenge. While AI may assist in content creation, all final content is created and approved by people.
AI tools are used for editorial and marketing tasks such as spell checking, ensuring adherence to CP Style, and supporting research. We do not publish content generated or edited by AI without human oversight. This is because AI tools can introduce errors, bias, or plagiarized material, and produce less engaging writing.
AI is occasionally used to generate new ideas, similar to how we use search engines. Every idea—whether generated by AI or people—is carefully evaluated to ensure our Members remain at the forefront of our work.
Our visual content, including social media reels, images, and videos, is made by real people creating original work. We use our own images, supplied photos or stock images. In some cases, AI tools are used to extend images for social media formats or to create animations. When AI plays a significant role in production, content will be watermarked by us or social platforms.
