CAA School Safety Patrol

Since 1929, the CAA School Safety Patrol has kept kids safe.

Protecting school crossings for over 90 years

Since the advent of the automobile in the early 1900s, CAA has been working to prevent school zone collisions. That's why we developed the School Safety Patrol (SSP) nearly a century ago—to protect the 1.4 million students who commute by bus or on foot every day.

As roads get busier, Patrollers are more needed than ever to monitor crossings, supervise school busses and teach their peers about road safety. The program consists of over 20,000 student volunteers in 800 schools across Ontario.

Why CAA is involved

CAA believes in empowering local communities with traffic safety skills. The School Safety Patrol program runs in partnership with police services, school boards, teachers, bus consortiums and student volunteers.
