Membership FAQ
CAA Membership is a service Membership that provides roadside assistance, towing coverage, travel savings, shopping and dining discounts through the CAA Rewards benefits, and access to member-exclusive services across Canada and the United States.
The right CAA Membership depends on your lifestyle, driving habits, travel frequency, towing needs, and preferred level of roadside coverage. CAA Classic suits local driving, CAA Plus adds extended towing and travel benefits, and CAA Premier provides the highest level of coverage and service. CAA Everyday provides access to savings and benefits without roadside assistance.
CAA Plus is better for road trips because it includes longer towing distances, enhanced travel benefits, and additional coverage that supports longer-distance travel.
Upgrading from CAA Classic to CAA Plus can be completed online through My Account, a CAA Store, or calling 1-800-705-1803. CAA Plus is worth the cost for drivers who travel longer distances, commute frequently, or want increased towing coverage.
CAA does not offer a dedicated senior Membership. All CAA Memberships provide access to a wide range of Member savings and discounts. Available discounts vary by partner and offer. Eligible discounts can be redeemed by presenting a valid CAA Membership card or by using designated online discount codes when available.
CAA Membership benefits include Member savings on eligible insurance products, opportunities to save at over 126,000 partner locations worldwide, including access to discounts at participating dining locations, as well as on fuel, shopping, travel, and more. The value of the savings or discounts vary.
The easiest way to renew a CAA Membership online and keep benefits active is through a CAA My Account, where Membership renewal can be completed securely before the expiry date.
CAA Membership benefits for residents in Ontario include roadside assistance, travel savings, partner savings, and automotive services. Core Membership benefits remain consistent, while some regional programs, offers, and partner discounts may vary by CAA club.
CAA Membership benefits include roadside assistance, towing coverage, battery boost service, fuel delivery, lockout assistance, travel savings, shopping and dining discounts, and access to member-exclusive offers. CAA Everyday covers roadside assistance for bicycles only.
Yes. CAA Membership includes roadside assistance for eligible breakdowns and vehicle emergencies covered under the Classic, Plus and Premier Membership plans. CAA Everyday covers bicycles only. Additional coverage can be purchased for RVs.
CAA roadside assistance works by dispatching service to the Member when a covered roadside issue occurs. Assistance can be requested through the CAA Mobile App, online, through My Account or by phone. The calls are then triaged with a priority to Members who are in a dangerous situation.
CAA Membership covers the person. Coverage follows the Member rather than a specific vehicle when travelling as a driver or passenger in an eligible passenger vehicle.
Yes. CAA Membership can be used throughout Canada and the United States through reciprocal service agreements with affiliated motor clubs. Core Membership benefits remain consistent, while some regional programs, offers, and partner discounts may vary by club.
CAA towing coverage includes towing service to an approved destination within the towing distance allocated under the Membership plan.
Everyday Members receive up to one (1) roadside assistance call per Membership year towards a bicycle tow up to 10km. Classic Members receive up to four (4) roadside assistance calls per Membership year (these can be used for tows up to 10km). Plus Members receive up to four (4) roadside assistance calls per Membership year (these can be used for tows up to 200km). Premier Members receive up to five (5) roadside assistance calls per Membership year (these can be used for tows up to 200km and one call up to 320km). Towing beyond this set amount will be at the Member’s own expense. A charge per kilometre will be applied by the service facility for any additional mileage that exceeds a Member’s coverage. Service coverage varies by territory.
Yes. CAA Membership includes battery boost service for vehicles with a discharged battery, subject to Membership coverage terms. The service is only available to Classic, Plus and Premier Memberships.
Yes. CAA Membership includes emergency fuel delivery service. A limited supply of gasoline (up to 10 dollars) will be delivered to the Member’s disabled vehicle. CAA Classic Members will be charged the fuel pump price and must pay the tow driver upon delivery. No charge for CAA Plus/RV and CAA Premier/RV Membership levels. Coverage excludes diesel/propane.
Yes. CAA Membership includes lockout assistance when vehicle keys are locked inside the vehicle or access cannot otherwise be gained. If keys are lost, broken or the driver cannot gain entrance to the vehicle, CAA will provide coverage for automotive locksmith services up to $50 for Classic Memberships and up to $100 for Plus/RV and Premier/RV Memberships.
The difference between Classic, Plus, and Premier Membership is the level of coverage provided. Classic offers essential roadside assistance, Plus provides enhanced towing and travel benefits, and Premier offers the highest towing limits and premium service features.
Yes. A CAA Membership plan can be upgraded at any time, subject to applicable Membership costs, terms and waiting periods.
CAA Membership travel discounts include savings on hotels, attractions, vacation packages, vehicle rentals, and travel-related services through participating partners.
CAA Rewards is a Member loyalty program that allows CAA Members to save on eligible purchases and participating partners by showing their valid CAA card or entering a code online, on everyday purchases such as fuel, dining, travel, entertainment, attractions and more. Members can also earn CAA Dollars® on eligible purchases.
Yes. Eligible family members can be added to a CAA Membership as Associate Members at a reduced pricing compared to the Primary Member. Subject to Membership eligibility requirements.
CAA Classic is often the best CAA Membership for city drivers because local driving generally requires shorter towing coverage and essential roadside assistance services.
CAA Plus is often the best CAA Membership for suburban drivers because commuting and regional travel can increase the need for extended towing coverage.
CAA Premier is often the best CAA Membership for rural or remote areas because longer distances between destinations may increase the need for higher towing limits.
Yes. Drivers who travel long distances often benefit from CAA Plus or CAA Premier because higher Membership levels provide increased towing coverage and additional travel benefits.
The difference in towing distance varies by Membership plan.
CAA Plus is often the best CAA Membership for frequent commuters because daily driving increases the likelihood of needing roadside assistance and extended towing coverage.
CAA Plus or CAA Premier is typically the best CAA Membership for road trips and travel because both plans offer enhanced coverage for longer journeys.
CAA Classic may be sufficient for drivers who rarely drive long distances and primarily travel close to home. Alternatively, CAA Everyday gives you access to CAA savings and benefits minus the roadside assistance service.
CAA Plus or CAA Premier is often the best choice for families with multiple drivers because broader coverage can help support more frequent vehicle use and longer travel distances. CAA coverage follows the Member, not the vehicle. Each family member who requires CAA coverage must have a Membership of their own, purchased at an additional cost.
CAA Plus or CAA Premier is often the best CAA Membership for older vehicles or used cars because extended towing coverage can provide additional peace of mind in the event of a breakdown.
CAA Classic often provides the best value for occasional drivers because essential roadside assistance and local towing coverage are included at the lowest Membership level.
Yes. CAA Membership can be worth it for city driving because Membership includes more than roadside assistance. In addition to services such as towing, battery boosts, fuel delivery, and lockout assistance for Classic, Plus and Premier Members, all Members can enjoy savings on travel, shopping, dining, entertainment, insurance, and everyday purchases through the CAA Rewards® program.
Rural driving can increase the need for higher towing limits and enhanced roadside coverage, which may make CAA Plus or CAA Premier a better choice when looking for roadside assistance coverage.
Yes. A CAA Membership can be switched to a different Membership level when driving habits, travel patterns, or coverage needs change. Applicable Membership terms apply.
Choosing the wrong CAA Membership plan may result in having more or less coverage than needed. A Membership plan can be reviewed and adjusted to better match current driving and travel requirements.
