Frequently asked questions

Avoid wearing white shirts or very light colours, as you will blend in with the white background. All parts of your face must be visible. If you have long hair, it's best to have it pulled back, or at least tucked behind your ears. Make sure jewelry like earrings are small, and don't cast shadows.

Yes, all applicants need a valid passport photo regardless of age.

Passport photos must be taken within the last six months and reflect your current appearance. 

No, your passport must resemble your true likeness; no filters, retouching or background changes can be made. 

The size requirements for a passport photo in Canada are 50x70 mm (2 inches wide by 2¾ inches high).
