Yes, digital copies of your Canadian passport photo are available upon request at CAA North & East Ontario stores. To meet Government of Canada requirements, digital passport photos must be taken by a commercial photographer, such as a CAA Store employee, and provided in .jpeg or .png format. Scanned copies of printed photos are not accepted. Digital passport photos must not be altered and must be submitted with your passport application within six months.

Passport photo service typically takes just a few minutes. As a walk-in service, you’ll receive your printed photos shortly after they’re taken, with no appointment necessary.

Canadian passport photos must be taken within six months of submitting your passport application and must reflect your current appearance.

According to the Government of Canada, passport photo requirements include:

  • 50 mm wide by 70 mm high for printed passport photos
  • A 3:2 aspect ratio or at least 1800 × 1200 pixels for digital passport photos
  • Taken within six months of application and reflect your current appearance
  • Show your face and shoulders
  • Neutral facial expression with mouth closed
  • Looking straight at the camera

Canadian passport photos must be 50 mm wide by 70 mm high (2 inches by 2¾ inches). Passport photos taken at CAA North & East Ontario stores follow the Government of Canada passport photo guidelines.

Avoid wearing white or very light colours, as they may blend into the background. All parts of your face must be visible. If you have long hair, pull it back or tuck it behind your ears. Jewellery should be minimal and must not cast shadows. CAA Travel Consultants will guide you to ensure your photo meets government standards.

Head coverings are permitted for religious or medical reasons. Glasses may be worn if your eyes are clearly visible and there is no glare. Sunglasses or tinted eyeglasses are not accepted, even with a prescription. CAA Travel Consultants will guide you to ensure compliance with government standards.

Yes, all applicants, including infants and newborns, require a passport photo regardless of age. A newborn may be photographed while seated in a car seat if a white blanket covers the seat behind their head and there are no shadows on the face or background. Refer to the Government of Canada child passport photo requirements for more information.

No. Passport photos must represent your true likeness. Filters, retouching, or background changes are not permitted. A CAA Travel Consultant will provide a compliant passport photo that meets Government of Canada requirements.
