Motorcycle coverage

Motorcycles (with or without side cars), electric scooters and mopeds are covered under Plus® and Premier® Memberships only, as they must be serviced by a flatbed truck. 

Motorcycle coverage includes towing up to 200 km for Plus Members and up to 320 km for Premier Members.  

Coverage is available anywhere CAA provides roadside assistance. Service will not be provided to inaccessible areas or an area not regularly travelled (e.g. vacant lots, open fields, beaches, private or recreational roads, yards, gravel, mud or snow-filled driveways or alleys, construction sites, unmaintained roads, frozen bodies of water, fire routes or other locations that cannot be reached safely). Please note that CAA has the right to assess the road and determine whether it is passable. We do not remove or move trailers to and from semi-permanent or permanent campsites. Roadside service technicians will not shovel snow.

Motorcycles are not covered under a Classic Membership. Motorcycles with or without a sidecar are covered under CAA Plus® and Premier® coverage. However, due to differences in service terms in the U.S., CAA Members should expect to pay for service provided to motorcycles while travelling in the U.S. and can submit original receipts to their Club for reimbursement. Motorcycle service is not provided between December 1st and March 15th, or if there is snow on the ground or the temperature is below 0 degrees C. Always contact CAA first. Refunds can be applied if CAA is contacted first and will be based on CAA prevailing rates if the motorcycle has to be towed by someone else.

Service will be provided when possible. If a roadside repair cannot be completed, CAA will arrange to transport the Member and their motorcycle, subject to your towing limits based on your CAA Membership type.

Yes, service will be provided based on the level of Membership. CAA Plus Members will receive up to 200 km per tow and Premier Members are eligible for 320 km for one tow per Membership year and 200 km for any tows after that.

As with any vehicle, requests for motorcycle service will be answered within the standard service times. Longer wait times may be experienced if specialized equipment is required to service the call.

Yes, each call for motorcycle service will count as one of the provided tows for that Membership level.

Reimbursement will vary, depending on the circumstances and will be considered for service within Canada. You may apply for a reimbursement by filling out our form. 

CAA Membership covers roadside assistance for your motorcycle under CAA Plus and CAA Premier. CAA does not include collision towing, where the policy of an insurance company owned by a provincial Crown Corporation operating exclusively within a province, pre-empts CAA service.
