Why get rental vehicle damage insurance?

  • Avoid auto insurance rate hikes if you get in an accident while renting a car. The odds are you'll be driving an unfamiliar vehicle on unfamiliar roads. Any claim you make with a standalone policy won't impact your everyday auto insurance.
  • Many car rental companies require you to have coverage before taking the keys.
  • With CAA Travel Insurance, you can keep all your policies in one place. If anything happens while you're on vacation, you'll only have to work with one company to process your claims.

What’s covered?

  • Physical damage or loss of a vehicle rented and operated by persons permitted to do so under the rental agreement is covered.
  • We cover reasonable costs for towing expenses, customs duties, fire department charges, and loss of use of the rental vehicle.
  • Unused days on the rental agreement will be compensated if the vehicle is deemed inoperable during your rental period.
  • We will defend your name on your behalf and at our cost for any civil action taken against you due to the loss or damage of your rental vehicle.
  • We will pay all costs assessed against you in any civil action we defend within the limit of our liability.
